TED Talks Emily Oster discusses the AIDS epidemic in Africa from an economic perspective and concludes that much of what is known about the epidemic there is wrong.
It is worth noting that there isn't much evidence in favor of the Patient Zero hypothesis that Oster mentiones briefly, which holds that a Canadian flight attendant "brought" HIV to the U.S.
So, there's a fifth thing that people know to be true about HIV that isn't.
